Аннотация
Hair transplantation is generally considered a safe and effective procedure for androgenetic alopecia, with rare severe complications. Scalp necrosis is an uncommon but serious adverse event. The authors report a case of a 47-year-old male who developed parietal scalp necrosis following follicular unit extraction (FUE) with sapphire blade recipient-site creation in another country. By postoperative day 5, he experienced progressive scalp pain and developed a well-demarcated necrotic eschar. Initial topical therapy was insufficient, and surgical debridement with partial approximation of the wound edges was performed, along with proper wound care, promoting complete healing and a favorable cosmetic outcome was achieved. This case underscores the importance of early recognition, awareness of intraoperative and patient-related risk factors, and prompt management. Reporting such rare complications aids in guiding preventive strategies and optimizing outcomes in hair transplantation practice.
