Аннотация

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), is a prevalent endocrine disorder that is distinguished by hyperandrogenaemia, chronic anovulation, and polycystic ovary morphology, and metabolic abnormalities. Serum SHBG levels may also be helpful as a treatment target and diagnostic biomarker for treating PCOS in women, according to new research. Anovulation, the phenotypic features of PCOS, and the advancement of ovarian pathology are all caused by decreased SHBG levels, which also increase the bioavailability of androgens. Medications like metformin come with certain negative effects yet offer temporary and symptomatic relief. They don't provide a long-term remedy for the illness. Patients with PCOS can lead better lives by managing their weight, regaining their androgen status, and normalising their insulin resistance with practices of yoga and naturopathy. This aids in the prevention of other associated non-communicable diseases. A 19 years old female presented to OPD of our hospital with the chief complaint of irregular menstruation for the period of 5 years. She claims her progressive weight gain is making her feeling down. According to the USG investigation, both ovaries were found to be normal in size with several tiny follicles measuring 2-4 mm in the periphery. The patient underwent yoga and naturopathy intervention for the management of PCOS. After three months of intervention, significant improvements were observed, including a reduction in weight from 81 kg to 75 kg and an increase in serum SHBG levels from 22.9 nmol/L (pre-intervention) to 24.5 nmol/L (post-intervention). This case study aimed to determine how yoga and naturopathy interventions affected the SHBG levels of PCOS patients who were losing weight.
