Аннотация
Mechanical ventilation is a life-saving supportive therapy, yet it can lead to several harmful consequences such as lung injury, hemodynamic compromise and neuromuscular dysfunction when not managed appropriately. Critically ill patients are vulnerable due to a myriad of modifiable risk factors, which can be mitigated through targeted interventions. Systematic monitoring of respiratory and limb muscle function is therefore essential to individualize ventilatory support, titrate sedation, and guide rehabilitation strategies aimed at preserving neuromuscular integrity. With the advent of novel technologies to monitor and treat muscle dysfunction, clinicians can better individualize sedation strategies, optimize ventilator settings, and apply targeted interventions.
