Аннотация

This study aims to analyse the phytochemical content and potential of Garcinia tetrandra Pierre methanolic extract (GTME) fruit peel as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. Phytochemical analysis was carried out using total phenolic content (TPC) and total flavonoid content (TFC) using gallic acid and quercetin standards, respectively, confirmed by Liquid Chromatography-High Resolution Mass Spectroscopy (LC-HRMS). Antioxidant activity tests were carried out in vitro with the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH•) scavenging method, while anti-inflammatory tests were carried out using in vivo tests on animals with carrageenan-induced paw edoema and peritonitis. The results showed that GTME contains high TPC and TFC and strong antioxidant properties (IC50 10.54 μg/mL). Through LC-HRMS results, GTME contains several dominant compounds such as bakuchiol, flavonoid, and alkamide derivatives. Administration of GTME to animals can decrease catalase activity, MDA levels, nitric oxide levels, and total leukocyte counts. The high phytochemical content of GTME makes it a potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.
