Аннотация

OBJECTIVE: To identify and evaluate current strategies for functional whole-tooth regeneration in orthotopic animal models with high translational potential.

DESIGN: A systematic review of in vivo studies involving orthotopic implantation of generated tooth constructs, analyzing experimental design, cell sources, scaffolding materials, implantation techniques, and outcome measures including histological, radiological, and functional evaluations.

RESULTS: Considerable heterogeneity was observed in animal models, developmental stages at implantation, and cellular components. Polycaprolactone (PCL) membranes were often associated with improved eruption and reduced ankylosis, suggesting enhanced periodontal integration.

CONCLUSIONS: PCL-based scaffolding systems may facilitate functional tooth regeneration, but further standardized in vivo research is needed to validate translational potential.
