Reconstruction Method After Condylar Osteochondroma Resection: A 10-Year Experience.
Аннотация
There are various methods to reconstruct the defects left after resection of condylar osteochondroma. To explore the efficacy of different reconstruction algorithms for condylar osteochondroma, we retrospectively analyzed 63 patients who underwent surgical resection of osteochondroma. Main symptoms were facial asymmetry (43.0%), malocclusion (26.4%), limited mouth opening (15.3%), and pain (15.3%). On the basis of CT-evaluated tumor extent, 3 reconstruction methods were adopted: arthroplasty (43 cases, 2 with contralateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy), superior repositioning following sagittal split ramus osteotomy (19 cases, 15 with Le Fort I osteotomy), and total joint replacement (1 case). During follow-up (mean 10 mo), there was no recurrence of osteochondroma. All subjective symptoms were effectively resolved, except 1 patient with mild malocclusion after arthroplasty. Fisher exact test revealed no statistically significant difference in the postoperative symptomatic rate between arthroplasty and BSSRO (P=1.00). In conclusion, individualized treatment plans should be formulated based on imaging findings and the severity of dentomaxillofacial deformity for patients with condylar osteochondroma.
