[Implementing a national multidisciplinary meeting board in nephro-oncology: Reports of the first two years of experience].
Аннотация
INTRODUCTION
The aim of the national nephro-oncology board is to facilitate the management of pre-existing renal diseases or those occurring during oncological treatment.
METHODS
All cases discussed during the first two years of the national nephro-oncology board were included. Multidisciplinary discussions involved oncologists, nephrologists, and pharmacologists. Data were collected manually by a medical oncologist and analyzed jointly with a nephrologist.
RESULTS
Between March 2023 and July 2025, 80 patients (96 tumor board files) were discussed across 26 monthly meetings. Among 79 patients, 7 patients (9%) evaluated prior to initiating anticancer treatment, five of whom were on dialysis, received approval to start therapy, with (n=2) or without (n=5) dose adjustment. Continuation or re-initiation of anticancer therapy was validated in most patients without prior renal disease (n=15, 60%), while more conservative therapeutic adjustments were recommended for those with baseline renal impairment (treatment discontinuation or suspension in 4 patients, 66%). Among patients who developed renal complications during anticancer therapy, the nephrological event was attributed to the oncologic treatment in 42 cases (53%), including 8 patients with pre-existing renal disease (excluding dialysis) and 34 without prior nephrological history.
DISCUSSION: The nephro-oncology board supported therapeutic decision-making by approving anticancer treatments for all patients discussed before treatment initiation and by recommending tailored adjustments for those who developed renal complications during ongoing oncologic therapy.
