Аннотация

Congenital hepatic haemangioma is a rare benign vascular tumour in neonates. This case describes a neonate with an antenatally detected abdominal mass, suspected to be a hepatic neoplasm. Postnatal imaging revealed a large hepatic lesion with diagnostic uncertainty between hepatic haemangioma, hepatoblastoma and mesenchymal hamartoma. The infant developed progressive anaemia requiring transfusions, and he underwent surgical excision of the mass. Histopathological examination confirmed hepatic haemangioma, showing thin-walled vascular channels with areas of haemorrhage and fibrosis. This case brings attention to the diagnostic difficulties posed by congenital hepatic haemangioma, as its imaging features resemble other hepatic masses. Early detection, comprehensive imaging and histopathological evaluation were pivotal in achieving a favourable outcome. The case highlights the value of a multidisciplinary approach and the need for accurate differentiation to guide treatment and avoid delays or unnecessary interventions in the management of hepatic haemangioma.
