Аннотация
The frontal cortex receives signals from the cerebellum and basal ganglia via the thalamus. These inputs interact with the circuits to produce unified outputs. In rodents, the secondary motor area (M2) occupies a higher hierarchical level than the primary motor area (M1). Investigating these circuits is essential to elucidate the mechanisms by which corticocortical feedback projections support executive function. This article reviews the interactions between feedback inputs from M2 to M1 and thalamic inputs originating from the cerebellum and basal ganglia, and their functional significance.
