Аннотация

Benign metastasizing leiomyomatosis (BML) is an uncommon condition characterized by the presence of smooth muscle nodules outside the uterus, most often in the lungs, in patients with a history of uterine fibroids. Although typically associated with women of reproductive age, its occurrence in postmenopause has been documented, even decades after gynecologic surgery. This academic commentary examines a recently reported case in a postmenopausal patient, contextualized within the framework of available scientific evidence. Key clinical, radiologic, and histopathological aspects are discussed, emphasizing the variability of CT findings and the relevance of correlating gynecologic history with immunohistochemical analysis. Therapeutic approaches such as surgical resection, hormonal suppression, and active surveillance are reviewed in light of individual clinical progression. The importance of long-term monitoring is highlighted due to the risk of recurrence. This contribution underscores the relevance of rare cases as valuable sources of clinical insight, aiming to support diagnostic reasoning and enhance informed decision-making in clinical practice.
