From Door-to-Data: How a Cardiovascular Nurse Quality Role Improves Chest Pain Outcomes and Registry Metrics.
Аннотация
BACKGROUND
Dedicated quality oversight is increasingly recognized as essential to improving adherence to evidence-based care, data integrity, and patient outcomes in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) management. Nurses with cardiovascular expertise are uniquely positioned to bridge frontline care and organizational quality priorities.
PROJECT RATIONALE: A rural community hospital participating in the National Cardiovascular Data Registry lacked consistent cardiovascular quality oversight, resulting in variable adherence to care pathways, documentation gaps, and below-benchmark registry performance.
PROJECT SUMMARY: A dedicated cardiovascular registered nurse (CVRN) quality role was implemented to oversee ACS care processes, improve documentation reliability, enhance interdisciplinary collaboration, and support accreditation efforts. Following implementation, key Chest Pain-MI Registry metrics improved from the 25th to 90th percentile, and the organization achieved dual American College of Cardiology accreditations.
TAKE-HOME MESSAGE: A dedicated CVRN quality role may improve ACS care reliability, registry performance, and interdisciplinary quality outcomes in rural health care settings.
