Investigation of the Optic Nerve Head Morphology Influence to the Optic Nerve Head Biomechanics - Regional Deformation Analysis.
Аннотация
Glaucoma is a prevalent eye disease that can lead to permanent blindness when the optic nerve at the optic nerve head (ONH) is damaged by shearing forces. The Lamina Cribrosa (LC), located in the ONH and closely connected to the sclera, plays a crucial role in determining whether the optic nerve passing through it will sustain shearing-induced damage. Understanding LC morphology is therefore essential for studying the causes and progression of glaucoma. This study aims to analyze the influence of varying LC anterior surface morphologies to the distribution of deformation across different regionals, as well as the impact on nerve damage. By identifying critical regions of the LC anterior surface that exhibit significant deformation, this research provides valuable insights into clinical applications and encourages further scientific exploration in this domain.
