Аннотация

Fowler's syndrome is a rare condition of the urinary tract characterised by the inability of the urinary sphincter to relax, leading to urinary retention. It occurs exclusively in women and may present with abdominal pain, urinary retention, recurrent urinary tract infections or pain in the lower back, buttock or leg due to sacral neuromodulation (SNM) device migration. SNM is the recognised treatment for Fowler's syndrome; however, the device is often deactivated during pregnancy because of limited safety data. This report describes a pregnant woman whose SNM device was deactivated and who successfully managed her condition with intermittent self-catheterisation using a paediatric-sized catheter, ultimately achieving symptom relief and a safe caesarean delivery.
