Аннотация

OBJECTIVE

To evaluate whether intrauterine administration of autologous menstrual blood-derived mesenchymal stem cell exosomes (MenSCs-Exo) can improve implantation and pregnancy outcomes in a patient with recurrent reproductive failure.

METHODS

Menstrual blood was collected to isolate mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). After immunophenotyping, exosomes were isolated from the cultured media of the MSCs. Following the characterization of the exosomes, 1 mg of MenSCs-Exo was administered to the patient's uterus 48 h before the embryo transfer.

RESULTS

No adverse effects were observed following administration. Two weeks after embryo transfer, a blood test confirmed increased β-hCG levels. At five weeks, the ultrasound showed the gestational sac, leading to a live birth.

CONCLUSIONS

In this study, we suggest a novel therapeutic strategy using exosomes derived from MenSCs to improve fertility in a woman with repeated reproductive failures resulting in live birth without adverse effects. As this report describes a single case, further investigations are required to evaluate safety and efficacy; however, these findings may pave the way for future studies.
