Bugs and Beyond: A Case of Chronic Osteomyelitis.

Osteomyelitis is the infection of bone that can be either acute or chronic. Infection occurs through hematogenous spread and bacterial seeding from a distant site of infection, growth of nearby infected tissue, or direct inoculation from trauma or surgery. Hematogenous spread is more common in children and can cause spontaneous osteomyelitis. Chronic osteomyelitis is a rare occurrence that is often prevented by prompt diagnosis and treatment. This case report demonstrates a rare occurrence of chronic osteomyelitis with osteonecrosis and pathological fracture in a young patient with delayed diagnosis and management.
