Аннотация
This study examined the association between the osteoporosis self-assessment tool for Asians (OSTA) index and the 25-question Geriatric Locomotive Function Scale (GLFS-25) as well as locomotive syndrome (LS) in community-dwelling elderly individuals in Japan. We conducted a cross-sectional study of 1,194 adults 65 years or older who participated in a health checkup in Fukushima Prefecture in 2018. To assess the association between the GLFS-25 total score and OSTA index, we conducted multivariable linear regression analyses to calculate the regression coefficient (β) with confidence interval (CI), adjusted for demographic, lifestyle, and medical factors. The dependent variable was the GLFS-25 total score, and the independent variable was the OSTA index. In addition, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analyses were used to evaluate the discriminatory ability of the OSTA index and determine the optimal cutoff value. The OSTA index was significantly associated with the GLFS-25 total score (β = -0.55, 95% CI : -0.89 to -0.21). The optimal OSTA index cutoff value for identifying LS-1 or more was -4 (area under the ROC curve, 0.57 ; sensitivity, 67.4% ; specificity, 40.1%). Although the OSTA index was independently associated with the GLFS-25 total score, it is not a valid screening tool for LS in this population.
