Medical Threats of the Texas-Mexico Border.
Аннотация
The Texas-Mexico border presents a uniquely hazardous operational environment for U.S. Servicemembers and law enforcement personnel. Increasing deployments in response to human and drug trafficking have exposed personnel to threats ranging from extreme weather and contaminated waterways to venomous wildlife and violent criminal activity. This paper identifies and analyzes the most prevalent medical risks confronting forces in the region, including flash floods, drowning in the Rio Grande River, heat and cold injuries, and encounters with dangerous flora and fauna. Recommendations are provided to enhance force protection through tailored standard operating procedures (SOPs), medical preparedness, and interagency coordination. By understanding the operational environment, leadership can better safeguard personnel and ensure mission readiness.
