Friedrich Disease: A Case Report.

CASE: A 16-year-old girl presented with pain and swelling of the medial edge of the clavicle. She denied previous trauma and was evaluated by multiple physicians for a possible infection or neoplastic lesion. The patient underwent multiple studies and procedures, including blood tests, imaging studies, and biopsy. After 6 months, a diagnosis of osteochondrosis of the medial clavicle was made. After 1 year of observation, the symptoms resolved.

CONCLUSIONS

The rarity of Friedrich disease and the scarcity of literature may lead to delayed diagnosis of this pathology. Awareness of medical personnel of this condition may facilitate accurate diagnosis.
