Hip resurfacing favors early intervention and has demonstrated excellent outcomes in young active males, the group historically at increased risk for failure of a conventional total hip arthroplasty. The best balance of the benefit-risk ratio for hip resurfacing is in those patients at increased risk for failure of a conventional total hip arthroplasty.
