A radiological evaluation of crossed-fused ectopic kidney in adult female: Case report and comprehensive review of literature.
Аннотация
Crossed renal ectopia with fusion is a rare congenital kidney anomaly where the kidneys are fused and cross each other. Patients are asymptomatic while some may experience lower abdominal pain, hematuria, fever, urinary tract infection, hypertension, renal failure, and a palpable abdominal mass. It is often discovered incidentally during evaluations for related conditions like renal stones, pyelonephritis, vesico-ureteric reflux, cysts, or malignancy, with renal cell carcinoma being the most common. Diagnosis of crossed-fused renal ectopia can be done through abdominal ultrasonography, retrograde pyelography, and 3 dimension computed tomography. Ultrasonography can detect kidney absence while 3 dimension computed tomography scans are essential for identifying vessels for safe surgery access. Treatment focuses on managing symptoms, with intervention needed for calculi, infection, or malignancy.
