Аннотация

This recent report described a rare case of osteoarthropathy of the temporomandibular joint area caused by vascular malformation in the right TMJ region. The patient was a 62-year-old male with a 1-month history of sudden pain and clicking in the right TMJ during mouth opening and closing. Multiple imaging examinations revealed a benign soft tissue tumor with a cumulative condylar bone at the posterior edge of the right condyle neck. Due to the concealed location of the tumor, which is located between the condyle and the external auditory canal, and the aim to minimize damage to the facial nerve, the surgical approach involved osteotomy of the condylar process to expose and dissect the tumor fully, followed by fixation of the osteotomized condyle. The patient developed weakness of eye closure on the right side after surgery. At the 3-month postoperative follow-up, the symptom of eye closure weakness had improved. Pathologic diagnosis confirmed venous malformation with vascular organization.
