Аннотация

INTRODUCTION

A balanced and stable core enables more efficient transmission of forces through the kinetic chain, leading to improved coordination and control of upper limb movements. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between core stability and the isokinetic strength of shoulder rotators in university-level players.

MATERIALS AND

METHODS

This cross-sectional study included 45 male participants agedbetween 18-24 who trained regularly. The sample size was calculated using an effect size of 0.30 and a level of significance of 0.05. Core strength and endurance were assessed using the Double Leg Lowering Test and McGill endurance test respectively. The strength of shoulder rotators was measured using a Biodex isokinetic dynamometer.

RESULTS

Pearson's correlation revealed significant correlations between core strength and peak torque/body weight of shoulder internal and external rotators. Additionally, significant correlations were found between peak torque, peak torque/body weight of shoulder internal and external rotators, and trunk flexor and lateral flexor tests. However, the peak torque and peak torque-to-body weight ratioof shoulder internal and external rotators were not correlated with the endurance of trunk extensors.

CONCLUSION

The present study showeda positive correlation between core stability and the isokinetic strength of shoulder rotators. These results can be considered when formulating core strengthening and endurance protocols to prevent injuries and during rehabilitation programs.
