Аннотация
Uterine artery embolisation has been proposed as an alternative treatment for hypervascular retained products of conception. This approach constitutes safer transitional management before definitive treatment through evacuation. Its benefits outweigh the risks of intractable intraprocedural haemorrhage. Uterine artery embolisation could ultimately be considered an alternative in itself, obviating the need for obligatory invasive management of retained products of conception. This update aims to review the physiological and imaging characteristics of hypervascular retained products of conception and their therapeutic management. It includes an in-depth analysis of the decision-making processes regarding the endovascular technical approach and uterine artery embolisation to opt for selective or non-selective embolisation based on angiographic findings.
