[Determination of isopropyl acetate, tert-butyl acetate and sec-butyl acetate in workplace air by solvent desorption-gas chromatography].

Objective: To establish a method for the determination of isopropyl acetate, tert-butyl acetate and sec-butyl acetate in the air of workplace by gas chromatography. Methods: In November 2023, the air in the workplace was collected using activated carbon tubes for isopropyl acetate, tert-butyl acetate and sec-butyl acetate. The samples were desorbed with carbon disulfide, separated on a capillary chromatographic column, detected by a hydrogen flame ionization detector (FID), and the detection limits, precision, desorption rates, etc. of the method were analyzed. Results: The linear ranges for the determination of isopropyl acetate, tert-butyl acetate, and sec-butyl acetate were 4.44-2222.00 μg/ml, 4.33-2165.00 μg/ml, and 4.36-2180.00 μg/ml, respectively. The regression equations were y=0.981x+5.075, y=1.285x+6.972, and y=1.203x+7.380, respectively. The correlation coefficients were all 0.99994. The detection limits were 0.21 μg/ml, and the minimum detection concentration was 0.14 mg/m(3) (air volume calculated as 1.50 L). The within-run precisions were 0.94%-2.67%, 1.03%-2.63%, and 1.13%-2.66%, respectively, and the between-run precisions were 2.12%-2.48%, 2.20%-2.71%, and 2.38%-3.09%, respectively. The desorption rates were 94.66%-102.58%, 96.45%-103.92%, and 94.79%-102.58%, respectively. The samples could be stored at room temperature for at least 7 days. Conclusion: The solvent desorption-gas chromatography method has good precision, high sensitivity, and simple operation, and is suitable for the simultaneous determination of isopropyl acetate, tert-butyl acetate, and sec-butyl acetate in the air of the workplace.
