Torpedo Maculopathy Complicated by Macular Neovascularization and Secondary Multiple Evanescent White Dot Syndrome.
Аннотация
PURPOSE: To report a case of torpedo maculopathy complicated by choroidal neovascularization (CNV) followed by secondary multiple evanescent white dot syndrome (MEWDS).
METHODS
Case report.
RESULTS
A 28-year-old male was referred for acute vision loss in his right eye. Fundus examination revealed a torpedo-shaped lesion temporal to the fovea. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) revealed a pigment epithelium detachment (PED) with overlying subretinal hyper-reflective material (SHRM), flow signal on OCT-angiography as well as hyper fluorescence on fluorescein angiography, consistent with CNV. More peripheral to the macula, indocyanine green angiography revealed multiple late-phase hypo fluorescent spots being hyper-autofluorescent on fundus autofluorescence and exhibiting ellipsoid zone disruption on OCT, supporting the diagnosis of secondary MEWDS.
CONCLUSION
This is the first reported case of torpedo maculopathy complicated by both CNV and MEWDS. This case study exemplifies how congenital macular anomalies can progress to neovascular and inflammatory complications.
