Severe foreign body reaction with spontaneous extrusion of glue after cyanoacrylate closure of the great saphenous vein.
Аннотация
Noninfectious inflammatory complications-such as phlebitis and systemic hypersensitivity reactions-can occur after cyanoacrylate closure for lower extremity varicose veins. In most cases, these reactions resolve within approximately 1 month, but in rare situations they may persist and become difficult to manage. This report describes a case of phlebitis after cyanoacrylate closure in which a severe foreign body reaction, rather than hypersensitivity or allergy, led to the formation of multiple fistulae. Through these fistulae, the cyanoacrylate polymer was eventually expelled, resulting in gradual healing. Understanding this clinical course and its underlying pathophysiology is important when providing preoperative explanations to patients.
