Аннотация
A series of phenyliodine(III) dicarboxylates, readily formed in situ from the reaction of carboxylic acids with PhIO, could undergo Hantzsch ester (HE)-enabled decarboxylative oxygenation with O2 from air as the oxidant to give a wide variety of the corresponding aldehydes and ketones. Mechanistic studies provide strong evidence for hydroperoxides as key intermediates in this transformation.
