Аннотация

Vasomotor symptoms, often called "hot flashes" or "hot flushes," and sleep disturbances are among the most common and disruptive side effects experienced by women receiving endocrine therapy for hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. These symptoms impair daily activities, negatively impact quality of life, and adherence to ongoing therapy. In this podcast, a moderator guides a conversation between a physician and a patient, exploring the prevalence and severity of menopause symptoms during breast cancer treatment, limitations in current management strategies, and recent advances in treatment of menopause-associated hot flashes. The podcast focuses on OASIS-4 clinical study of elinzanetant, a dual neurokinin-targeted therapy (NK-1 and NK-3 receptor antagonist), the only approved treatment for moderate-to-severe hot flashes caused by endocrine therapy for breast cancer. The podcast examines OASIS-4 study design, key results, safety, and implications for both patients and clinicians. Participants reflect on the broader relevance of the results in symptom management, treatment adherence, and treatment outcomes for patients with breast cancer without compromising their quality of life. Obstetrician/gynecologist, Dr Cecilia Caetano, interviews Dr Fatima Cardoso, an investigator in the OASIS-4 study who provides the treating oncologist's perspective, and Helena Rowe, a breast cancer survivor and OASIS-4 study participant, who shares the lived experience of treatment-induced menopause symptoms and provides a patient's perspective.
