Аннотация
Famine is not a natural phenomenon. It is the result of an organized collapse of the essential determinants of health. It is part of a long-term political and structural process that goes beyond mere food deprivation by undermining public health, social resilience, and the future development of a population. Acute and chronic malnutrition impair growth, neurocognitive development, and mental health, and can induce epigenetic changes that are transmissible to future generations. Recognizing famine as a form of structural and prolonged violence with transgenerational consequences requires an ethical, medical, and political response to protect the fundamental right to health, food security, and dignity.
