Sacrococcygeal teratoma with severe gluteal deformation in a young woman: A case report.
Аннотация
INTRODUCTION AND
IMPORTANCE
Sacrococcygeal teratoma (SCT) is a germ cell tumor derived from primitive germ layers. While SCTs are a common neoplasm in infants and children, they are very rare in adults.
CASE PRESENTATION: We present a 24-year-old Afghan woman with a severe gluteal deformity, who suffered from pelvic pain and difficulty in sitting and walking.
CLINICAL DISCUSSION: SCT is an important differential diagnosis for a presacral mass that can be identified through performing both magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography scans. When the lesion grows posteriorly to the coccyx, complete removal and coccygectomy via a trans-sacral approach are associated with favorable surgical and cosmetic outcomes.
CONCLUSIONS
It is important to be aware of SCT as a possible diagnosis for a presacral mass.
