We present in this article the synthesis, functionalization, and properties of 3-aminosydnones, a forgotten class of mesoionic compounds. Their capacity to react as 1,3-dipoles in cycloaddition reactions with cyclic alkynes was investigated, revealing their potential as valuable tools for bioconjugation applications.
