Аннотация
OBJECTIVES: Reducing premature mortality from noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) is a global priority under Sustainable Development Goal target 3.4. Individuals with NCDs face increased risks of severe outcomes from common infections.
STUDY DESIGN: Short communication examining the role of vaccination as an underutilized strategy to protect people living with NCDs.
METHODS: We reviewed evidence on the interactions between infectious diseases and NCDs and examined the potential contribution of vaccination to reducing adverse health outcomes among high-risk populations.
RESULTS: Vaccination against influenza, pneumococcal disease, COVID-19, and other pathogens reduces hospitalizations, complications, and mortality among people living with NCDs. However, vaccination remains insufficiently integrated into NCD prevention and management frameworks.
CONCLUSIONS: Strengthening the integration of vaccination into NCD strategies could reduce avoidable morbidity and mortality and support progress toward global NCD targets.
