AIM: The aim of this study was to reveal the experiences of nurses who migrated from Turkey to Germany in the process of social and professional integration.

BACKGROUND: Understanding the impact of migration-related challenges on nurses' professional and social integration is vital for reinforcing their personal and professional identities and ensuring the sustainability of healthcare systems.

METHODS: It was designed as a descriptive qualitative study. Semi-structured online interviews were conducted with Turkish nurses who have been working in Germany for at least one year.

RESULTS: Nurses' responses were grouped under three main themes: (1) remaining voiceless (social integration); cultural adaptation process, daily life and social life; (2) becoming a nurse again (professional integration); nursing care and care burden, adaptation to the working environment and role confusion, teamwork; and (3) going with the flow (motivators); social support, professional competence and language skills, coping with stress.

DISCUSSION: The successful integration of nurses into social and professional life is critical for the effectiveness of both individual and community health services. This process supports the professional development of nurses and contributes to the sustainability of the health systems they serve.

CONCLUSION: The study showed that, despite all the challenges, migrant nurses' motivational resources play an important role in shaping their perspective on the integration process.

IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING: It is crucial for both sending and receiving countries to develop strategies for mutual education, resource sharing, and capacity building.

IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING POLICY: Health systems need to be equipped with comprehensive structures that empower migrant nurses, alongside the establishment of practice and integration standards at the policy level.
