[Efficacy of Recognan in the therapy of neurological disorders after traumatic brain injury].

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a brain injury caused by external mechanical stress, which leads to a deterioration in the patient's health (temporary or irreversible), and is the main cause of death and disability. Along with neurodegenerative and cerebrovascular diseases, TBI is one of the main causes of cognitive impairment, as a result of injury. Among the neuroprotectors prescribed for the correction of neurological disorders after a TBI, the medicine drug (MD) Recognan (citicoline), which has neuroprotective and reparative effects, is of particular interest. The effectiveness of citicoline in TBI is assessed based on clinical studies and the results of neuroimaging methods: a decrease in cerebral edema, an increase in the percentage of patients who fully recovered 2 months after TBI, increasing the proportion of patients capable of self-care, improving cognitive functions. Recognan (citicoline) can be recommended for patients with TBI of varying severity according to the following regimens: 1) in the acutest period (1-7 days) with mild and moderate TBI - intravenously (i/v) drip at a dose of 500-1000 mg/day, with severe TBI - 2000 mg/day; 2) in the acute period (10-30 days) with mild and moderate TBI - per oral (p/o) at a dose of 1000 mg/day, with severe TBI - i/v 1000-2000 mg/day; 3) subacute and long-term period (1-3 months) with mild and moderate TBI - p/o at a dose of 500 mg/day, with moderate and severe TBI - p/o at a dose of 1000 mg/day.
