Metabolic status of grazing goat kids in the soil and climatic conditions of Santa Elena, Ecuador.
Аннотация
To evaluate the effect of the sex and age genotype on the metabolic status of Creoles and F1 Boer x Creole (BxC) kids, in the production conditions of the Santa Elena Peninsula, Ecuador, this research was carried out between June 2024 and January 2025. A total of 75 goats, 30 criollos and 45F1 F1 BxC were selected; hematological indicators were determined in 30 of them and hemochemical indicators in 75 of them. The data were analyzed using a mixed linear model Mean comparisons between genotypes and sexes were performed using the LSD test, while comparisons among ages were conducted using the Sidak test . The hematological indicators, Ca, P and Mg were not affected (P > 0.05) by the genotype, sex and age of the animals. Total protein (TP) and immunoglobulins (IGB) were higher (P < 0.05) in three-month-old animals. The albumin/globulin ratio (R A/G) was higher (P < 0.05) at 4 and 6 months of age. Urea was higher (P < 0.05) than those at six months of age. Alanine amino transferase (ALAT) and aspartate amino transferase (ASAT) were higher (P < 0.05) at fifth and sixth months of age. Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) was higher (P < 0.05) in F1 BxC kids. It is concluded that the genotype, sex, and age of the kids did not influence their hematological parameters and Ca, P and Mg in blood serum; but age influenced the PT, IGB, R A/G; urea, ALAT and ASAT and the AF genotype.
