Focusing on 29 prefecture-level cities in the Central Plains Urban Agglomeration (CPUA), this study employs the entropy-weighted TOPSIS method, a modified gravity model, social network analysis (SNA), and spatial panel regression models to systematically examine the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics, spatial correlation network structure, and spillover effect mechanisms between urban renewal and ecological resilience from 2005 to 2023. The results reveal that: ① The comprehensive urban renewal index exhibited a "stepwise growth" trend, spatially forming a "core-secondary-periphery" structure with Zhengzhou as the core and Luoyang and Nanyang as secondary centers. Cities such as Xingtai and Shangqiu demonstrated notable late-mover advantages, while marginal cities in southern Shanxi and western Henan lagged behind. ② The mean ecological resilience increased from 0.41 to 0.45, yet spatial heterogeneity remained significant. Zhengzhou maintained an absolute lead (0.91), whereas resource-dependent cities like Handan and Pingdingshan showed declining trends due to prolonged resource exploitation. Although Shangqiu improved its resilience through ecological restoration, its spillover effects remained limited. ③ The spatial correlation network between urban renewal and ecological resilience transitioned from a single-core polarized pattern to a multi-core networked structure, with network density at a relatively low level (0.2-0.3) and an overall "dense east, sparse west" distribution. Zhengzhou consistently served as the core node, exhibiting significantly higher degree centrality and betweenness centrality than those of other cities. The eastern plains formed tight linkages leveraging transportation advantages, while the western region displayed an "isolated island chain" structure due to topographic constraints. ④ Urban renewal exerted a significant positive local effect on ecological resilience but generated negative spillovers on neighboring areas. Additionally, industrial structure optimization positively influenced resilience with spatial spillovers, whereas urbanization may impose negative impacts on surrounding regions through ecological space compression. These findings provide theoretical and policy insights for optimizing regional eco-urban collaborative governance and promoting sustainable urban agglomeration development.
