An antibacterial nanofiber with inflammation-suppressing, ROS-scavenging and nitric oxide-generating properties for promoting wound healing.
Аннотация
The development of advanced wound dressings capable of overcoming bacterial resistance and biofilm-associated infections remains a critical challenge in clinical practice. In this study, we fabricated a novel light-activated nanofiber membrane wound dressing using Eudragit® E100 as the matrix material, propylene glycol (PG) as a plasticizer, and silver nitroprusside nanoparticles (SNP-AgNPs) as a nitric oxide (NO)-releasing component. The wound dressing exhibited potent synergistic antibacterial activity and effectively eradicated established biofilms through a dual mechanism: induction of ROS-mediated oxidative stress and physical disruption of bacterial membrane integrity. In vitro and in vivo assessments demonstrated excellent cytocompatibility and significantly accelerated wound closure. Furthermore, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence analyses revealed that the treatment promoted robust angiogenesis and granulation tissue formation, while substantially attenuating inflammatory cell infiltration, ultimately leading to complete re-epithelialization with mature skin architecture.
