Аннотация

Opioids have traditionally been a fundamental component of cancer pain management; however, emerging evidence raises concerns regarding their potential influence on cancer progression. Although they are effective in alleviating the severe pain associated with malignancies, recent studies suggest that opioids may exert complex and not yet fully understood effects on tumor biology. Some research indicates that opioids could facilitate tumor growth by modulating immune suppression, promoting angiogenesis, and enhancing metastatic potential. Conversely, other investigations propose that opioids may possess anti-neoplastic properties, such as inducing apoptosis in cancer cells and enhancing immune system activity. This review aims to elucidate the multifaceted relationship between opioids and cancer, examining their dual role in symptom palliation and possible tumor progression. Additionally, it discusses the effects of opioids across different cancer types and explores alternative pain management strategies that may offer safer long-term outcomes. With ongoing advances in understanding opioids' biological impacts, it is evident that rigorously designed clinical trials are essential to clarify their role in cancer therapy and optimize their clinical application.
