Impact of knowledge-attitude-practice model nursing based on reproductive health education on patients with reproductive tract infections.
Аннотация
OBJECTIVE
To evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions based on the Knowledge-Attitude-Practice (KAP) model in managing patients with reproductive tract infections (RTI).
METHODS
Adopting a prospective randomized controlled design, patients diagnosed with reproductive tract infections between January 2023 and September 2024 were randomly assigned to either the study group (KBA model nursing intervention) or the control group (conventional nursing care). Both groups were subjected to systemic treatment with metronidazole/tinidazole, with concurrent treatment provided to the partners of patients with trichomoniasis. Data collection was performed at baseline and 4 weeks post-intervention. A 3-month follow-up was conducted to evaluate recurrence rates. Assessment indicators included clinical efficacy, treatment adherence (Morisky Medication Adherence Scale), quality of life (FertiQoL scale), vaginal microecology (Nugent score), and recurrence rate.
RESULTS
After 4 weeks of intervention, the study group demonstrated significantly higher scores on the Fertility Quality of Life (Ferti QoL) scale (94.8 ± 7.6) compared to the control group (81.2 ± 8.9), with superior performance across all subdomains (p < 0.05). Vaginal microbiota assessment revealed that the change in Nugent score (-3.59[-3.89, -3.28]) was significantly more favorable in the study group than in the control group (-1.14[-1.44, -0.84], p < 0.05). Regarding medication adherence, both the Morisky scale score (7.55 ± 0.87) and adherence rate were significantly higher in the study group than in the control group (6.94 ± 1.12, p < 0.05). During the 3-month follow-up, 8 recurrence cases were reported in the study group, which was significantly lower than the 20 cases observed in the control group (χ2 = 6.583, p = 0.010).
CONCLUSION
For patients with reproductive tract infections, KAP model nursing demonstrated significant advantages over conventional nursing in terms of quality-of-life scores, vaginal microbiota improvement, medication adherence, and recurrence rates.
