Аннотация
This study utilizes sum frequency generation (SFG) vibrational spectroscopy to characterize the interfacial molecular structures and changes between a model thiol-ene sealant and an adhesion promoter (6111) following exposures to saline or jet fuel simulant environments at elevated temperatures. The results obtained from these in situ buried interface studies show that only slight structural changes occur at the sealant/6111 adhesion promoter interface after the saltwater and jet fuel simulant exposures. We also found that neither amino silane nor vinyl silane, which are the major components of 6111, dominate the interfacial behavior of 6111. Our investigation shows that the buried interfaces between the thiol-ene sealant/6111 system and the previously studied thiol-epoxy sealant/6111 system are dissimilar.
