Cardiovascular rehabilitation - a current overview Abstract. Cardiovascular rehabilitation is a well established part of the treatment of patients after acute cardiovascular events and after heart surgery. Cardiac rehabilitation programs improve the prognosis after acute coronary syndroms through reducing further events by a better control of cardiovascular risk factors and thus granting the participants a better quality of life. Due to the evidence of the cardiovascular prevention research of the past 20 years rehabilitation has become part of the recommendations of the guidelines. The following article presents an overview of the established methods an indications of rehabilitation in times of progress in interventional techniques and better medical treatment options.
