[Specific characteristics of clinics for sex offenders and the role of nurses].

Perpetrators of sexual violence have very diverse clinical profiles and psychiatric comorbidities are common. Treatment is most often provided within a judicial framework, which complicates the therapeutic alliance but at the same time enables care to be provided throughout the process with evolving objectives. Nurses play a key role in this process, in clinical and psychosocial assessment, psychotherapy, and the implementation of drug treatments, as well as in coordination with the various stakeholders (prison integration and probation services, social workers, other caregivers). The aim is to draw on the resources and strengths of these patients to help them recover and leave a life of crime behind.
