The seasonal media attention for exposure to sunlight and the related damage means an increase in news articles about the potential danger of ultraviolet radiation in sunlight during the summer. These articles are not always sufficiently nuanced, which can lead to confusion or deception. In this article, as a counterbalance to reporting in which epidemiological context or the interpretation of scientific uncertainties are lacking, I will attempt to put the health effects of exposure to sunlight in perspective on the basis of current knowledge.
