Аннотация
This study addresses the Brazilian Ministry of Health's initiative to standardize procedures for vaccinating isolated Indigenous peoples who require the intervention, aiming to guide expeditionary health teams in effectively planning post-contact vaccination procedures and preparing for future contacts, aiming to improve them. We also discuss some challenges that need to be overcome to make this initiative more equitable, given the ethnic and health disparities so typical of Brazilian Indigenous peoples, especially the Korubo Indigenous People, who live in isolation in the Amazon Rainforest. To this end, careful planning and the adoption of specific protocols for health control in isolated Indigenous territories, especially in the post-COVID-19 period, are crucial, given their high immunological vulnerability, given the lack of prior exposure to many common infectious agents, which makes them extremely susceptible to respiratory, viral, and bacterial diseases-including adverse vaccine events. We present this experience to the scientific community to share the recommendations of Brazilian indigenous health authorities regarding first-contact and recent-contact vaccination of isolated indigenous people, highlighting the epidemiological, linguistic, cultural, geographic, logistical, and health service access challenges faced by the Korubo ethnic group.
