Аннотация

PURPOSE: This study tested whether DINA HALO SAFETY, a 4-week peer-led digital road safety programme consisting of microlearning videos, moderated WhatsApp Messenger discussions, and Instagram reinforcement posts, improved self-reported safe riding behaviour and theory-based psychosocial determinants among Indonesian undergraduate motorcycle users.

METHOD: A quasi-experimental study with non-equivalent intervention and control groups (n = 80) collected data at baseline, week 2, and week 4. Higher scores indicated safer behaviour and more favourable psychosocial determinants. Outcomes included road safety behaviour, knowledge, attitudes, behavioural intention, self-efficacy, risk perception, and peer influence. Analyses used paired and independent t-tests and repeated-measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) to examine time, group, and time × group effects.

RESULTS

The intervention group showed larger improvements than the control group in road safety behaviour, knowledge, attitudes, and intentions, with significant time × group effects. Risk perception improved over time, whereas self-efficacy and peer influence did not show significant interaction effects.

CONCLUSION

DINA HALO SAFETY was associated with short-term improvements in self-reported safe riding behaviour and several theory of planned behaviour (TPB)-aligned determinants, although stronger experiential and social-norm components may be needed to change self-efficacy and peer influence.
