Аннотация
CASE: A 16-year-old adolescent male triathlete presented with left iliac crest apophyseal avulsion fracture and later developed right iliac crest apophysitis. Both injuries were successfully managed conservatively, following a clearly delineated staged return to sport protocol and running progression over 4 months. Imaging modalities used included radiograph, magnetic resonance imaging, followed by ultrasound to assess healing.
CONCLUSION: The present case highlights the complexity of management for an iliac crest apophysis avulsion fractures in an adolescent male triathlete, including a novel rehabilitation and return to sport protocol. At the 1-year follow-up, the patient remained pain-free with return to triathlons.
