Piceatannol enzymatically derived from resveratrol protects against UVB-induced skin injury by modulating antioxidant and inflammatory pathways.
Аннотация
This study focused on optimising the tyrosinase-catalysed conversion of resveratrol (RES) to piceatannol (PCT) for efficient, low-cost production, as well as investigating the protective effects of PCT against UVB-induced skin damage. Conditions were optimised by adjusting temperature, enzyme concentration, pH, Vitamin C concentration, and reaction time. In HaCaT cell experiments, PCT provided greater cytoprotection than RES by improving cell survival, lowering UVB-induced ROS accumulation, increasing the activities of key antioxidant enzymes, and suppressing inflammatory mediators more effectively. Consistently, in vivo mice experiment confirmed that PCT alleviated UVB-induced erythema and histological damage more effectively than RES, while better supporting collagen remodelling and epidermal repair. Overall, PCT exhibited superior antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and skin-repair activities supporting its potential value as a natural active ingredient for photoprotection and skin repair.
