Аннотация
Radiotherapy is an integral component in the treatment of oral cancers. It is commonly used either as a primary treatment or in combination with surgery and chemotherapy. The complex anatomy of the oral cavity and its proximity to critical structures, such as the salivary glands, mandible, and surrounding soft tissues, necessitate precise targeting and advanced techniques to maximize tumor control while minimizing damage to healthy tissue. These advanced techniques include Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), and Adaptive Radiotherapy (ART). IMRT allows for highly conformal dose distribution, enabling high radiation doses to be delivered to the tumor while sparing surrounding normal tissues, such as the salivary glands, jawbone, and oral mucosa. VMAT is a faster technique compared to IMRT and can be advantageous in terms of reduced treatment time, fewer setup errors, and more comfort for the patients. Further research into personalized treatment approaches and the integration of new technologies can contribute to better patient outcomes and quality of life.
