Аннотация

Building on conservation of resources theory (Hobfoll, 2001) and spillover theory (Edwards and Rothbard, 2000; Staines, 1980), we conducted a survey study (N = 794) to examine the direct and indirect associations of family interference with work (FIW) through job stress, family stress, job satisfaction, and marital satisfaction on depression among dual earners in Saudi Arabia. The results indicated both time- and strain-based FIW were positive predictors of depression. Additionally, both job stress and family stress mediated the associations between FIW (time-, strain-, and behavior-based) and depression. However, marital satisfaction only mediated the relationship between strain-based FIW and depression, whereas job satisfaction was a nonsignificant mediator. Our study underscores the importance of family-to-work conflict and stress perceptions in impacting mental health. Theoretical and practical implications were further discussed.
