Аннотация
Bone stress injuries (BSIs) are common among high-performance athletes and military trainees. BSIs typically present with point tenderness, loading pain, and nighttime discomfort, and most involve only one or two bones, with clinical symptoms roughly proportional to the degree of osseous injury. We present the case of a 19-year-old male engaged in high-intensity Air Force Special Warfare training who initially presented with vague low back, thigh, and foot pain and was ultimately diagnosed with diffuse multifocal grade 3 and 4a BSIs involving numerous bones of the bilateral lower extremities. What makes this case unusual is the extent and severity of osseous injury relative to the patient's comparatively mild and nonspecific symptoms. Further, the case demonstrates the complexity of bone stress pathology and highlights the possibility that reduced physical activity during adolescence contributed to later bone fragility.
